Chennai Book Fair 2015

Why u buy so many books ? A question which I face frequently. The simple answer of mine to them was and is "What ever i ate today for breakfast , it is sponsored by a book which i read in the past" meaning books are my bread winners. Not an overstatement. With the limited access i had / have , always tried to maximise exposure to books.  Visiting a book fair was always in my radar. Though book fair got conducted in Pondy too @ a marriage hall, access by wheelchair is a big question mark.  Hence chennai book fair was a golden choice. Had an opportunity to visit Chennai Book Fair on 10th Jan with my brother Jena. Baring a slight accessibility issue at the entrance, overall the complete complex was accessible by Wheelchair. Hope they would take care of providing a better ramp at the entrance next year.  With overall 600+ shops, it is certainly not possible to cover them all. With our curiosity, we covered around 75%. Stall after stall , books books and more boo...

Stepping Stones...

It was a summer day. Hot & Sunny morning, 10:30 AM. I was waiting, for my friend @ Anna Salai, Pondicherry (Thanks to very few living trees @ Anna Salai). Within couple of minutes I noticed that many elderly couples were there with few covers / bags in their hands. The purpose of their visit was to a bank near by. ~95% of them were struggling to manage the steps @ that bank's branch. I had a closer look at those steps. Horrible is the right adjective to describe the status.... It was not clean... Corners of many of the steps were broken... damaged.. Initially thought there are only 4 or 5 steps .. then i realized that the bank is operating in the first floor... There was no support to climb on those stairs. First few of them were big.. and then smaller... Unevenly sized... Those who managed climbing these stairs were finding it very difficult to come down.. Even noticed one using a nebulizer...I guess these senior citizens have to manage with this bank atleast once in a mon...

Tasty Gratitude

Gratitude is my favourite restaurant in Pondy. It is not a big one but i like the taste of the food they serve over there.. I have been there more than a few times ... the reason being its clean ambience and "accessibility"... Went there with my brother J this saturday... with every successive visit their taste seems to be improving (or so i feel) My favourite items over there are egg roll and fruit salad... worth for each paisa you give... In addition to the taste of the food, their hospitality is really good... Guess its been run by bengali people .. Homely food...
