Moondru Viral ; China Vilagum Thirai ;

I have made a post each on these two books right at the moment I got interest on them. Now having completed reading both , I thought why not to register my thoughts on them again. Result is this post.

Moondru Viral:
This book is about the sequence of events that happens in the life of a Software Engineer (Sudarsan). Specifically about his experiences at on-site. One at Britan and another at Thailand.

At the outset, this book is written in a smoother language which every one can understand. Reminds the legendary writer Mr.Sujatha  at many places if not in each page at least once. Nothing wrong. I feel that no modern day writer (in tamil) can write without the influence of him. Moreover the story base is also technology oriented. Author's knowledge about both these countries and their culture is transparent.

"Kun" Ira Murugan has (those who have read the book can understand this) detailed many things about Thai culture, their behaviour etc., etc.,

One thing which could have avoided is the length of the book (3       6       8 pages). At times it feels like he is repeating the same things. The book could have been more crispier.

And at the end, the story ends in a very comical way. Though it provokes interest to read, but doesn't look realistic. Otherwise the realism flows through the entire content of the story.

Touching lines in the story:

"அவன் ஒரு தொழில்நுட்ப குழுவின் தலைவன் இல்லை. பத்து பதினைந்து பேராக ஒரு கூலிபட்டாலத்தை இங்கே வேலை பார்த்து பிழைக்க கூட்டி வந்தவன். வெறும் கூலிகள் தான் எல்லோரும்".

In a scale of ten I would rate this book 6;

If you are a person in the IT industry and if you know tamil (reading), you can give a try if you are little bit patient.

China Vilagum Thirai
China Vilagum Thirai can be read at one shot. It is really very interesting. Seemless integration of concepts. Realistic. Easy to understand language.

As you turn-on each page, the huge potential of china spreads in-front of your eyes. Though We and China are closer in terms of population, China is a huge country in terms of its geographical size. The comparison of Indian and Chinese roads in the early pages of the books really makes us feel ashamed. The most important thing about the book is that the author has not taken any one side.

Lots of things about Chinese culture, language, food , houses are given in an interesting way. You don't feel like reading a boring travelogue. Lots of comparison about Chinese and Indian media are given. Some how, Chinese media follows "All is Well" policy. They don't publish negative news items. Here we are just the opposite. We don't popularize positive things.

It is really amazing that billion++ people can be controlled simply by an ideology with out much of retaliation. We get a different view about Beijing Olympics apart from what we saw in the live telecast.

In a scale of ten I would rate this book 8.5;

Being a computer science student,  I would conclude like this : China is like Cloud Computing; India is like Distributed Systems.
