Imagine year 2020.
How would you be using your web? Somewhere I read this analogy: "the cars of early days mimicked ancient manual vehicles. Similarly the web of today mimic the books / newspapers / magazines of yesteryears".. then really how the web would be as the time progresses?
Fascinating....
During the past 2 ~3 years webosphere has seen exciting new ideas. Blogs reaching the unprecedented capacity in terms of quantity and inclusiveness.. No need to explicitly mention about "Micro blogging" services like twitter , Google Buzz etc... Phenomenal growth ....
Lets chart-out few possible web advaaaaaancements...(In my opinion:)
"Web of Things" would occupy a major area of webosphere in the future..
Think about IP enabled Washing Machines, IP enabled Microwave ovens, Refrigerators.. all routing semantic content among them...
You might even get a oven/cooker which would suggest the possible recipes that you can make based on the items that you have added so far , in real time... Similar to the suggest feature that you have today it can suggest the recipes as you progress or even it can contact expert cooks's semantic repositories through web services and would suggest you the best practices of making the recipe. I'm lovvvvving it already...
As it is now started to happen for TV's , 3D would become possible in web. a three dimensional web application.... an application with near real experience...
Semantics enriched mobile applications.... which can automatically contact the person you need in case of any mishaps like accidents, health issues etc...
May be this is not in 2020, but.... think about a web with conciousness, a web which can decide itself who can access what? and which can automatically deliver the contents to people in need... "A Concious Web".... The web which would become your friend, philosopher, guide with you need to put 0% efforts...
A web with collective conciousness, collective knowledge of all human beings in the world... may this be the new avatar of almighty to save the humans from destroying themselves.
PS: I started to write this post only at the technical mindset. But it ended up more philosophical/ science fiction type.. Nevertheless I decided to post it in the present form itself... Who knows this may well turn up to be the reality... Read the post "As We May Think" to substantiate this thought process.
