Last week-end we had a seminar on Leveraging teaching skills. A senior professor from IIT (M) was with us to share his experiences and innovations in the field of teaching for higher studies. It was a wonderful experience of having such a productive session. Teaching, especially for higher studies is not like a walk in the park. Today's scenario in IT education is entirely different. People gets jobs even before 10 months of finishing their course. So the responsibility is on the shoulders of the teacher to establish the importance of core subjects. In total the session was very much interesting, productive and interactive.

Recent thoughts are about international journals. The publications are considered as the rewards for Academicians especially of higher studies. So it becomes order of the day to have good(!) publications. The publications can be national seminars, international seminars. But above all these is the publication in international journals. To get a publication in an International Journal(IJ) is not a joke. A publication is not simply a theory or hypothesis. But we need some solid implementations. Not only implementations but also their analysis in terms of efficiency and effectiveness (both are not same). It has become a day-today activity to download IJ articles, read and understand(!!) them. Experienced persons say you have to read a huge collection of IJ articles before you start your work. So, Long Long way to go......

Nowadays lot many thing(k)s are happening around us. An incident is expressed very differently by different set of people. Getting the original nature of the incidents has become really hard.. harder.. hardest. Where lies the exact boundary between a person who is realistic and a dreamer. Persons with very large goals can not be explicitly classified as dreamers. Because all the inventions we have today are the outcome of dreams that great minds had. When i read my own blog, its only in very few occasions where i have blogged about the day-to-day incidents. all others are some what philosophic in-nature(or so i believe). Today we formed a team of young & energetic brains to work with a core project in "Search" (i repeat, Search). It is a break of almost 8 months that i had from search. Here i should mention about Mr.SRS. He is the person who gave me a golden opportunity to work with search. After leaving M, i was again planning to work with search. Initially was busy with academic schedules. Once this academic year started i decided to go for a challenging project. Identified the resources.Today we had the first discussion of the project. Will finalize the scope of the project by tomorrow. My search continues.....

Believe me i am not the creator of the word Bangalored. From the past 10 days the climate @ Pondy is awesome. It is not hot, not so cool. The condition over here makes me feel like again at Bangalore. (To my surprise this time when i was at Blr for 7 days it was not that much pretty). I asked the people over here. They replied that here after the climate would be like this for another 5 months. But the pondy people feel this climate drowsy. They want to have their brand hot climate. ok,.. taste differs. Each and every homosapien in this Earth has a unique way of thinking. People's approach towards problems varies in a diverse manner. It depends on the environment in which they live. Apart from all these things, I feel that there is a Master-Thought(MT) for everybody. This MT is the pivot around which the whole thinking globe revolves. To make it clear, a person who is interested in music would have impact of music in all of this thoughts. So his thought on music is the MT. It is this MT which constitutes the core of an human being. The existance of the person is defined by this MT.

After my relocation to Blr i was not able to contact Mr.B for more than one reason. First i was shocked to see the message from Mr.B at late night around 12:00 this friday. He wanted to talk with me. I invited him to Pondy. I received him at Pondy Bus stand. At that time it was a casual meet. We both went to the house. Had some dinner and slept away. Next day morning(sunday) we went to the beach and discussed many things apart from the core problem. We almost reached home without discussing the problem. Why for people plays music(!) in Vehicles especially like busses, I wonder. If it's an private vehicle then its ok. What can be a solid reason for playing noise in the name of music in busses. It has multiple distrubances. Already environment inside our busses are very noisey. Imagine if somebody has to attend a important call over his mobile in this noisy atmosphere.Me personally had this experience at madurai. Certain things need to be done by applying common sense. One more sample for this kind of thing is ditching the road immediately after a new raod has been constructed. In fact the sequence should be in reverse. Reponsiblity is what we need to develop. After all, we need to understand that it is the same place where we are going to live. It has become routine to struggle for cable TV connection each time we shift to a new house. Wanted to break this routine. Found a solution in the form of DTH (Direct To Home) After choosing DTH , need to zero-in on particular provider like Tata sky, Dish and Doordarshan . Finally decided to go for DD bcoz it needs no add on cost / moth in the form of any subscriptions. More over it provides 45 video channels and 20 radio channels .(of cousrse only 6 out of this are of Tamizh) Really the quality of reception is good. After the launch of INSAT 4B this march 10 , it is expected that DD would provide 100 channels. Ok.. This is the fourth time i'm shifting my residence in past couple of years. To start with, in Blr we were in a small house of single bed room. Indeed the house's size was not a major problem rather the area in which it was located was the problem. During the rainy seasons it was like residing in an island. We planned to shift to a house which was bigger in size, closer to the office, superb environ, ofcourse it was close to a ideal condition. Life was very peaceful in that house for all. Many a good things happened in that house. Then came the news of shifting to Pondy. Again the search started. It was like searching the house in a city where i was never gone for. that too in 15 days. Ofcourse one of my relatives helped me a lot in this regard. This time the condition was even worse. The house had no bed room at all. It had a hall , kitchen and bath-room, toilet. Now i was in double mind. Whether to shift this or not ? By this time i started to knew about the importance of money

Recursion '07 is a National conference of computer science students across the nation, conducted by our department.It's a two day meet. Ofcourse this is the first time for me. Students from 30 different institutions attended this meet. The event was grand; really it was out of reach of my expectations. Inagural function got started with a good prayer song sung by our students. Inagural speech was given by a top official from one of the leading MNC company. Then started the events like Software Project Mangement, paper presentation, Web designing, Quiz etc etc etc. Infact me happend to be a judge for Web designing. Really it's amazing set of talents we have in the upcoming students. The way they answer the questions and their presentation and all are very professional. Started wondering about the voulme of knowledge yet to be gathered. Lots of things in Computer science to be learned. It seems like trying to explore the sea just by sitting in the shore. Various different fields of computer science are (CS) yet to be explored. Being a part of an institution for higher studies, it is the order of the day that lot of things to be learned. I'm seeing a widely open arena of interesting topics which needs to be concentrated upon. Read - Study - Invent - Practice, is what i have plans to do. Firing all the cylinders to invent atleast a very small thing. Admist all these things there are real time difficulties for me. I have a good software configuration. Recent days many times i have faced the following question : what u do as research in computer science ? People who asks this question has the opinion that there is no scope for research is there in Computer science. For the general pyublic computer science means software engineer who earns some big money. I would say that software engineering is only one part of computer science. Computer science is a huge arena. Lots of things are there which are still unexplored. I would like to give a simple example: If we have simulate some parts of brain (read it again that it's not whole brain but only a part) it is still out of reach of we the homosapiens. Forget about all the technical hurdles. First consider the power requirements. As per our knowledge brain requires approx about 10 watts of power but if we try to build a machine which would simulate this, it has been estimated that it would require 1 Giga Watts of electricity. So plenty of things are there which are still out of reach of

What we see with our eyes need not be the same as what it is. The things that looks glorious / awesome @ one point time may not be the same @ another. Let it be anything ., So, it is THE MIND which decides whether it gives happiness or not. To normal individuals it requires something from external world for the mind to feel happier.But the real fuel for happiness is inside the SELF. Many of us would have been already read something simillar to the ideas that i'm spelling out on these lines.But the realistic meaning of these things would be understood only when ONE experiences.
